If you’ve been around me at all in the past couple months, I’ve probably forced you to listen to the simplistic musical masterpiece known as “Call me Maybe.” For that, I am sincerely sorry.
I still remember the first day I heard the song. This video popping up all over my Facebook feed
The first time I watched it, I scoffed a hearty scoff. Look at the Disney kids doing their jobs. They made some video to make it look like they were having a fun sleepover when, really, we all know their one purpose was to shove this song (and new “artist”) down our throats. I was not going to be fools by that as I had stopped forcing things down my throat a long, long time ago. Why would Ashley Tisdale or Carly Rae Jepson, who are both 26, hang out with Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, who are 18 and 19 respectively? Are they just long time fans of sucking on the Bieber fame teat? I mean, who wouldn’t want a piece of that celeb action?
But I digress…
Here I was determined to not be fooled by this marketing ploy and yet, I couldn’t help myself. I started to listen to it here and there. I’d tell myself it was for Ashley Tisdale’s booty popping, but we all know what was happening. I was hooked.
You can try to avoid it too, but it’s everywhere. Seriously, there’s a version of “Call me Maybe” for everyone!
