I Got Stood Up(date)

Bandana Kim Knows What’s Up

If you didn’t already know, I got stood up on a date with a mysterious model I had never met before. After that night, I found myself wondering what happened. I’m not the type of person to ever stand anyone up and if I somehow did, I would definitely be apologetic about it. Instead, I didn’t hear a peep from this girl. She was determined to remain a mystery.

Lucky for me, I have this blog and I post about it on something called Facebook. My post about getting stood up was my most popular post yet. There’s this word called shame and I hear some people have it. I do not. My shame-less posts will probably always be the most read ones.

Due to this burst in popularity, I had several people I haven’t talked to in a while, but am friends with on Facebook, read the post and comment or talk to me about my experience. One guy started to chat me about it and instantly I realize he went to the same high school as model girl. We chat about it for a bit and he “friends” her on Facebook because they share a lot of mutual friends and he sets out to see what sleuthing he can do. It’s a creepy digital world we live in people.

She accepted his friend request and he reports to me that she lists herself as “in a relationship” with a girl. He even went so far to click on the girlfriend’s name and see that her profile picture is a very cute, current, couple-y photo of the two of them. Whoa.

I don’t know what compelled this girl to even set up a date with this rando (me). Either way, I’m happy for the both of us she didn’t go through with it. Sure, we all know it’d be nicer to explain yourself instead of being a dick and just no-showing, but in the end, what does it matter? If she’s the type of person willing to go on a date with someone else or cheat on her girlfriend, I’m not interested. Gross. She’s clearly not an awesome person.

And you know what? I am. I’m not perfect but I know I am a good person. I’m funny and smart and kind and I have a whole hell of a lot to give. I am faithful and honest and I wear my heart on my sleeve. This date would have been awkward because I am way out of her league. Recognize!

  • I've said it already, but it bears repeating: You're awesome. And obviously way out of that beezy's league.
