Pride 2014

On June 30, 2014 by Kim

I’ll be honest and say that I totally failed at Pride this year. It’s my favorite holiday of the year but I partied a bit too hard before the actual Parade and therefore couldn’t participate like I normally do. To understand how I managed to fail at this year’s Pride festivities, we must rewind to Thursday…

Thursday

Drinking Start Time: 5:15pm
Activities: Robyn concert with a party bus, local neighborhood bar after
Drinking End Time: 1am

Above is a video taken by a drunk person on the way home from the concert on the party bus. We attempted to Get Bodied on the tiny party bus. What you see in the video is basically just my ass. You’re welcome.

Friday

Drinking Start Time: 12pm
Activities: brunch with mimosas, Storm game, T-Shack Drag Show, Wildrose Beer Garden, “after party” at Alex’s apartment
Drinking End Time: 4am

Saturday

Drinking Start Time: 2pm
Activities: Pride BBQ, Cyndi Lauper and Cher concert, an attempt to make it to my 10 year high school reunion after which was foiled by a long line, Wildrose
Drinking End Time: 2am

Sunday

It should not be surprising to me that I woke up extremely hung over. I didn’t feel that way to start and even got up early to go grab champagne from the store. By the time I got on the bus headed downtown however, the nausea set in. When I arrived at our parade watching spot, I had to go into a back alleyway to vom. Not my finest hour. I ate some granola and tried to get a couple mimosas down (hair of the dog) but it wasn’t working. The nausea wouldn’t go away. I ended up siting in a chair with my view of the parade mostly blocked, silent and just focusing on not vomming again.

I finally went home after the parade and napped for two hours. I missed the entire festival at the Seattle Center.

After my nap, I met my friends at the Wildrose in order to rally. My rally was focused heavily on dancing and less so on drinking. Oh and I danced hard for four good hours.

Shirtless and dancing with a bunch of ladies is the definition of rallying

I think the moral of the story here is that I may need to be more careful next year, as I’m getting older and alcohol hurts worse the following morning. Currently, I can’t say I’m not sad / disappointed but I only have myself to blame for that. If I take the weekend as a whole, however, it was glorious. I did so many things and saw so many of my good friends.

So, here’s to next year Seattle, where I’ll be back in full force. Game on.
