Jordana Brewster goes on Dates

As you might know, I joined OKCupid a while back. I had pretty much given up on it a couple weeks ago when I finally found a girl that I thought was attractive and message-worthy. To my slightly surprise, she messaged me back. We went on our first date, which I mentioned was awesome.

Then a whole new round of messages started. Girl #1 was out of town of a week and a half and by the week she returned, I had set up 3 dates for that week. My experiences went like this:

Thursday: Date #2 with Girl #1. She was / is awesome, without a doubt. We went out to Indian food. I paid because I’m classy like that. Then we went back to my place to watch DEBS. Those who know me might be surprised that this was her suggestion, not mine. Throughout the whole movie, I’m trying to pay attention and also trying to not make as many jokes as I normally do but I’m distracted by Girl #1 sitting next to me. It’s date two and we haven’t even touched. This would be the moment I would hold her hand. Color me nervous.

The movie ends before I manage to move my hand the necessary 5 inches. I take her home and receive the “It’s not you, it’s me” text the next day. It probably would’ve stung a lot less if it hadn’t followed my “Hey, I’m awkward around you because you make me nervous. It must mean I like you” text. Burn.

It's like I went lesbian hunting

Friday: First date with a girl that asked me out. I’m the one that does the paying and the door holding and things like that so this was new. We went to happy hour and were having a great time. The one red flag was when she told me a story about punching some of her friends. I choose to ignore this and continue onward. So much so actually that she decides to come with me to meet all my friends at a beer festival.

She got weirdly competitive that I was getting free drinks and she was not. It’s not my fault that I’m naturally charming in most situations.

She got too drunk and I walked her home and met back up with my friends. Then, one friend killed any possibility the wild card date I just had would go any further. She told me the girl reminded her of my ex in looks and mannerisms.

Shit.

Now I know that this girl from Friday is probably way nicer than my ex. She probably isn’t going to break my heart into a million pieces. But now that it’s been said, I can’t help but compare the smallest little things about the both of them.

Luckily for me, I told that friend to never, ever say that to me ever again. Since this is the third half-Filipino I’ve brought around, I must have a type. Let me have my type.

Saturday: This was actually a non-date but it came from OKCupid so it gets an honorable mention. Turns out, my neighbor from childhood is gay. I got a message that said “Hey Kim, is that you?” and it took me quite some time to figure out who it was I was responding to. She lived two doors down from me in the 3rd through the 6th grade. Small world.

We had brunch and caught up on the last 13 years of our lives. It was just two old friends catching up and the waitresses practically having to kick us out because we’re the only people left in the restaurant after three and a half hours. She has a kid so she won’t be the lezbiebestie I’ve always dreamed of but there was talk of getting Storm season tickets together. Win.

So that’s what it’s like to be a lesbian dating. Or something. I’m a player so I wouldn’t worry about it.
